we believe in the inherent worth and dignity of each person and offer sliding scale services based on an economic justice model of financial privilege. to that end, we challenge white supremacy, capitalism, ableism and all systems of oppression to make our programs and services more affordable and accessible to poor and working class people and people of color.
we affirm that all individuals are the experts of their own experiences and choices and are committed to providing trans-informed care and support trans folx in their gender self determination using an informed consent model of care.
we believe that individual wellness contributes to social justice and social justice contributes to individual wellness and that radical inclusion must involve radical transformation.
we understand that through the pursuit of justice, equity, healing and reconciliation we may cultivate healthier societies and foster relationships with self and community liberated from violence and oppression.

I am a white, queer, cisgender counselor who was born and raised in Raleigh, North Carolina. I believe in warmth, non-judgement, and collaboration in the therapeutic process. I have a passion for working with LGBTQ+ folx, as well as other historically oppressed groups. So many of us feel pressured to hide our emotions and perform okayness, no matter the cost to our mental health. Let’s create a space together where you feel free to be real. I will meet you where you are with curiosity, warmth and acceptance. My practice is client-centered, which means that I respect you as the author and expert of your own lived experience. I am anti-racist and LGBTQIA+ affirming. I also bring the values of anti-oppression, Health at Every Size, and Disability Justice to my work. My experience as a grief counselor working with individuals, groups and hospice workers has been instrumental in shaping my approach. Grief arises not just when someone dies, but in response to any type of change: in our identities, careers and relationships, to broader social and political crises like systemic racism and climate change.
I also have extensive training supporting people living with chronic illness and their caregivers. Whether coping with a new diagnosis, adjusting to survivorship or preparing for the end-of-life, it’s an honor to
walk beside my clients as they navigate these changes.
I received my Master of Social Work degree from Hunter College in New York City. I’m so happy to be back home in the south and grateful to be a part of the Radical Healing collective! Click here to learn more about Ray.

accepting new clients: yes!
type of clients: children, teens, adults, individual
approach: DBT, psychodynamic, feminist
education/training: University of North Florida
insurance: BCBS (all plans except Blue Value, Blue Home and Blue Local, Aetna
I am a white cisgender queer woman who is passionate about human rights and take an active stance in social justice concerns as a clinician and an advocate. I utilize feminist and multicultural counseling approaches to assist clients in dismantling internalized capitalism, misogyny, gender norms, racism, homophobia, fatphobia, and other systemic shame limiting mental well-being. I focus on creating a liberating space where clients feel seen and safe enough to engage with vulnerability; I present as my authentic self as a clinician to dispel potential power differentials and facilitate the most therapeutically beneficial relationship possible.
I have experience guiding children, adolescents, and adults through collaborative treatment addressing a multitude of presentations including but not limited to general anxiety, social anxiety, OCD, depression, personality disorders, neurodivergence, behavioral concerns, and trauma. My clinical interests include addressing shame, body images concerns, identity exploration, assertiveness training, interpersonal relationships, and inner child work through dialectical behavior and schema therapy. I recognize the importance of preventative work in addition to the beforementioned healing work and engage in positive reinforcement parent training and behavioral management work with children struggling with dysregulation. No matter the age or concerns, I am constantly honored and humbled when clients trust me with their emotions, identities, and life
experiences. At the end of the day, my priority as a clinician is to meet clients where they are at and make them feel seen, supported, and empowered.
To truly prioritize mental well-being and community strength, we must maintain moments of joy and rest. I believe in the power of play and mindfulness as healing components no matter our age and incorporate creative interventions within therapy to engage with child-like wonder and reprieve. This includes guided imagery, body work, art activities, narrative techniques, and games. Which happen to include a lot of my own interests outside of the counseling space! I love all things creative, like ceramics, painting, woodworking; in addition to this, I love spending time with my loved ones, getting outside with my dog, and anything that has to do with dinosaurs. I have been in private practice in Durham for 9 years and am honored to be at Radical Healing! My training and experience in couple therapy includes working with couples in relationship distress as well as with those who are looking for relationship enhancement, providing sex therapy including the use of the sensate focus method, conducting premarital counseling, and using evidenced-based treatment for couples facing individual stressors, such as the mental or physical illness of one partner (e.g. obsessive compulsive disorder, anorexia nervosa, breast cancer). I have significant training in several styles of individual therapy including Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) as well as insight-oriented therapies and psychodynamic perspectives. My more recent training in somatic approaches and mindful self-compassion complement my certification in yoga and mindfulness instruction to create a holistic approach to mental health. I have also recently been trained in leading others in writing for health, through Duke Integrative Medicine, and enjoy incorporating creative journaling into therapeutic work. My work addresses a wide variety of issues, including anxiety and depression, life transitions, trauma, identity and self-esteem issues, relational issues, as well more specialized issues such as anorexia nervosa and bulimia nervosa. My therapeutic style is warm and engaged, and I take a client-centered and anti-oppression approach to my work. I have significant experience working with folks of all sexual orientations and gender expressions, those practicing non-monogamy, people of color, folks from many different backgrounds, and folks in bodies of different sizes, shapes, and abilities. I believe a compassionate respectful orientation toward understanding, hearing, and believing each person’s unique reality as a human is the most important foundation for any healing to happen. In addition to psychotherapy for individuals and couples, I also hold workshops and classes on yoga, writing, and self-compassion practices. Alex (they/them) is a queer healing artist enlivened by creating spaces and a future where all folx are validated, loved, and cared for - and know they matter. On their own healing journey from enmeshment, Alex believes in the transformative power of nurturing a connection and relationship to the Self, so that we may show up fully in relationship with others. Alex is called to explore with teens, adults, groups, and our culture at large, what is getting in the way of our access to connection, healing, love, and overall wellness. They believe they will be a good fit for folx who are willing to explore their trauma, and how those experiences are impacting them in the present moment. Alex is not focused on behaviors or the idea of “fixing”. As a relational therapist, they are energized by being present with folx as they learn to relate to themselves, to other people, and to the ways they have learned to keep themselves safe, in new ways. Alex’s hope (and belief) is that as we reconnect with our agency, and practice embodying compassionate curiosity, we can and will take better care of ourselves, each other, and the Earth. When Alex is not seeing clients, they delight in connecting with family, friends, and nature, and be-ing through creating.

When working with clients, I aim to fully understand their story to help them further understand
themselves. Living as a sexual, gender, religious, and racial minority means I sit at the intersections of multiple
marginalized identities. My lived experiences have led me to foster abolitionist radical healing predominantly in QTPOC (queer and trans people of color) communities. I deeply believe that we navigate the world as authors of our epic adventures, which shape our identities and self-concepts.
My therapy style combines narrative and feminist techniques to provide each client with empowering
tools to craft their story. Through this approach, we can work together to make space for and understand your lived experience in our sessions. As your therapist, I aim to help you use your history to shift your present narrative. We can do this by honoring not only the factors that influence you -- but the factors that you influence. In doing so, I hope we can use our sessions to build a foundation to write and rewrite your story confidently and continuously.
To expand my knowledge and better support my clients, I have additional training in human sexuality and gender, traumatology, radical healing, abolitionist psychology, and embodied approaches (i.e., focusing on the body’s physiological processes). I know that supportive communities help foster supported individuals, so I have also taken the time to learn from abolitionist organizations in the South about the principles, applications, and values of utilizing transformative justice as an approach to
community harm and conflict in and out of therapy. My therapeutic focus often includes identity development, interpersonal processing, emotional processing, trauma, intracommunal conflict, grief, anxiety, and depression. In my free time, I find time to play by gardening, hiking, singing, roller skating, and more recently, learning how to forage.
I am currently under the supervision of David Young Oh, LCMHC. Click here to learn more about Iman.

I am a White, pan-sexual, queer, non-binary counselor who grew up in the Midwest. I spent multiple years in organizing and activist communities, which informs how I imagine change as a part of therapy and the world at large. My counseling experience stems from working with womxn with substance use disorders and TLGBQ+ folx. The mental health experiences that we have worked through together include complex PTSD, anxiety, depression, anger management, borderline, bipolar, ADHD, identity exploration, gender-affirming services, relationship issues, life transitions, and grief/loss.
Overall, I identify as an anti-oppressive therapist who believes healing is a crucial form of intra- and interpersonal justice. I recognize systems and communities as factors that underly mental health concerns and as spaces that we can reclaim to heal together. I hold humility, safety, trust, warmth, and communication as primary values. Especially recognizing power dynamics between therapist and client, I strive to empower and support people to create their own definitions of and pathways to healing. I specifically offer an intersection of feminist, liberational, narrative, and mindfulness practices with clients. I believe these approaches can help us create new worlds, perspectives, hopes, and senses of peace. Click here to learn more about Anna.

When working with clients, I aim to fully understand their story to help them further understand

marginalized identities.

B. ANDI LEE

type of clients: teens, adults, individual
approach: liberation psychology, anti-oppressive intersectional feminist, CBT, mindfulness, bereavement, person-centered, trauma-informed, narrative therapy
education/training: PhD candidate at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign
Hi! I’m Andi, and I am a queer, cisgender Taiwanese American daughter of immigrants. My approach to therapy is rooted in liberation psychology, with the goal of promoting radical healing from systemic traumas that deplete our well-being and nurture collective care. I have a deep passion for working with QTPOC, BIPOC, and LGBTQ+ individuals navigating feelings of non-belonging, depression, anxiety, bereavement, trauma, and interpersonal stressors across the lifespan. I have extensive experience in working with neurodiverse children and teens, adults with chronic pain and other medical stressors, and low-income BIPOC families. As a liberation psychologist, I practice acompañamiento, or psychosocial accompaniment, meaning I would be alongside you in therapy, learning with and from you, affirming and hearing your story, and bear witness to your healing. I have training in a variety of therapeutic approaches and am always willing to collaborate with you on what best fits your needs and promotes your healing both within and outside the therapy room. In my free time, I like to collectively organize with comrades, make custom postcards, be in nature, and dance. Click here to learn more about Andi.
HOPE LEWIS

I am a Black queer femme from the suburbs of Philly. I believe every person is the expert on themselves and what they need out of therapy. I enjoy working collaboratively with folks and seek to provide a non-judgemental, open, and compassionate environment. My therapy style is rooted in a recognition of systemic and individual oppression with a focus on liberation and community care for all. I acknowledge the guidance of my ancestors in all the work that I do. I have experience working with Black and Latine youth, LGBTQ+ youth, and their families. I am interested in working with BIPOC and LGBTQ+ folks in discussing identity development, intersectionality of identities, experiences with marginalization, relationship issues, depression, and anxiety. In my free time, I love to dance, go to concerts, watch reality TV, and read stacks of memoirs and romance novels. Click here to learn more about Hope.

Hi, I’m Rori (they/them pronouns, please). I’m a 3rd generation Mexican/American, Texas born ‘n’ raised. As a person less inclined toward societal/conventional beauty standards, becoming a hairstylist wasn’t always on my radar. I had the misconception that entering the cosmetology world had to mean embracing those things blindly.
The ways we adorn and groom ourselves has been central to who we are and how we engage with one another in the entirety of human history. When I realized that helping someone curate their look could have such a more profound effect — I dove right in.
Being in the queer and trans community, it’s become so obvious to me how much a hair cut/style can mean changing how someone perceives their self, how others perceive them, and help folks feel more embodied. I recognize the vulnerability in sitting in a salon chair under a cape while someone sculpts your new look, and I want to make that as comfortable and enjoyable as possible for people.
I’m also a firm believer that these services and “luxuries” provide an upward movement through a capitalist society and shouldn’t be reserved only for those of privilege. I provide sliding scale services with a heavy reliance on mutual aid. If you’d like to donate to help me continue, please do!
I received my cosmetology certification via Durham Beauty Academy while apprenticing under Rachel Radford at Ceremony Salon in Carrboro, NC. I have also received advanced training for all hair textures in color, hair painting and balayage techniques from Whittemore House, Leftbrain Group, Bayou St. Blonde, Wella and Framesi color formulation, as well as razor and shear haircutting from Dre Donahue, Jayne Edo, Kien Hoang, R+Co and Oribe, and continue to grow my skill set with ongoing advanced education.

MARICON MAGIC AESTHETIC
Sól Rivera
My name is Sól Rivera (latine and they/them) and I have worked in hair and cosmetics for seven years. In my time span working in the industry, I have seen the truly expressive queers doing their own hair in their bathrooms at home or kitchens or in the basements of DIY shows and thought to myself, “It’s my full belief that queers have always had to resort to ‘kitchen’ hair even if they do not want to.” It is my belief also that luxury hair and experiences should be accessible, sincerely, to all. The cosmetic industry has always catered to cis straight individuals and this space is a reclamation of aesthetic healing. I provide haircuts and coloring, brow stylings, and makeup services to teach one on one makeup skills in a comfortable environment or by request, for specific events.
