BIPOC
TRAINING FELLOWSHIP

The BIPOC Counselor and Social Work Training Fellowship - Fall 2022

Black, Indigenous, People of Color*, Queer and Trans/GNC/NB folx are highly encouraged to apply.

The application for the 2022 cohorts are now closed.

If you are interested in becoming an internship student for the Fall 2022 cohort, please read the instructions below under the heading: "Applying to our Program."

The BIPOC Training Fellowship is an intensive internship training year for counseling, social work and psychology predoctoral students of color*. The training program is remote for 2021-2022 though access to the Radical Healing campus is available and encouraged.

Each year, two to six graduate students are invited to participate in the training fellowship. The fellowship program at Radical Healing trains clinicians to practice from an anti-oppression, anti-racist lens and from a social justice perspective. Trainees will use an integrated model of DBT, CBT and relational cultural model of care to support a diverse range of clients with marginalized identities, including folx from intersectional queer, trans and gnc identities. The fellowship includes opportunities for clinical supervision, peer supervision and group experience at Radical Healing and when available, a training stipend will be provided for the student to use towards a modality of their choosing. Past attendees have used their stipend to increase their training or certification in DBT, EMDR, CBT.

Psychology (PhD) - APA-aligned internships are currently being explored - stay tuned!

*People of Color is a historical term referring to the shared experience of racism upon minoritized people from the African diaspora, Arabs/Middle Easterners, Latinx peoples, Asian/Pacific Islanders, Native Americans, multiracial people, as well as immigrants and those whose native language is a source of oppression.

Applying to our Program

The training fellowship is an intensive training year with most students seeing on average of 10-20 clients each week. Our internship program is designed to ensure all participants excel during their time with us, as each fellowship recipient is expected to directly participate in shaping their education and training contributions.

We seek out graduate students who are independent, self-starters and who are curious, open-minded and open to constructive feedback. Successful applicants will have experience with diagnostic assessment, case notes and have excellent communication and time management skills. Students are expected to see up to 10-20+ clients a week and must have clinical counseling experience prior to our training program.

We are currently accepting applications for Fall 2022 internship year for Clinical Mental Health Counseling Students and Social Work internship students. Applications will be reviewed Summer 2022 and and invitations for interview and campus tour will be scheduled in June/July 2022. Due to the number of applications we receive, we cannot respond to each application. Upon applying, you will receive an e-mail notification verifying your application materials. If you are in consideration for the internship training fellowship, you will hear from us by Summer 2022.

To apply, please send an e-mail with your letter of interest, a sample case note and copy of your resume/CV to David Young Oh at dave[at]radicalhealing.us
. In your letter of interest, please include your learning goals for your training year and why you would be a good mutual fit for our program.  Incomplete applications will not be considered.
