BIPOC
TRAINING FELLOWSHIP

The BIPOC Counselor and Social Work Training Fellowship - Fall 2022

Black, Indigenous, People of Color*, Queer and Trans/GNC/NB folx are highly encouraged to apply.

The application process for the January 2021 is closed. If you are interested in being an internship student in the Fall 2022 cohort, please read the instructions below under the heading: "Applying to our Program."

The BIPOC Training Fellowship is a practicum and internship training program for counseling students and social work students of color*. The practicum and internship training program is a joint partnership between Creasman Counseling and Radical Healing and will take place on the Radical Healing campus. Due to COVID-19 and the ongoing pandemic, all meetings and clinical appointments will be virtual. If training students would prefer to come on campus to conduct their telehealth sessions, Radical Healing will be providing quiet work space with reliable internet service.

The fellowship is accepting new applications for practicum and internship for mental health counseling and social work degree programs. To express interest in our fellowship training program, please send an interest inquiry with a copy of your resume to creasmancounseling[at]gmail.com. The internship experience is designed to fulfill the field placement requirements for the Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counseling track (or in some states, “Licensed Clinical Professional Counselors” or “Licensed Mental Health Counselors”) and Licensed Clinical Social Work track. Applicants should be ready to start in January 2021.

Each year, two training students will be selected for the training fellowship. The fellowship program at Radical Healing trains clinicians to practice from an anti-oppression, anti-racist lens and from a social justice perspective. Trainees will use an integrated model of DBT, CBT and relational cultural model of care to support a diverse range of clients with marginalized identities, including folx from intersectional identities, queer, trans and gnc folx. The fellowship includes opportunities for clinical supervision, peer supervision and group experience at Radical Healing and when available, a training stipend will be provided for the student to use towards a modality of their choosing. Past attendees have used their stipend to increase their training or certification in DBT, EMDR, CBT.

Psychology (PhD) - APA-aligned internships are currently being explored - stay tuned! And we plan to expand our internship program to include up to 6 students.

*People of Color is a historical term referring to the shared experience of racism upon minoritized people from the African diaspora, Arabs/Middle Easterners, Latinx peoples, Asian/Pacific Islanders, Native Americans, multiracial people, as well as immigrants and those whose native language is a source of oppression.

Applying to our Program

The training fellowship is an intensive training year. Students who excel in our program tend to be independent, self-starters who are curious, open-minded and open to critical feedback. They have experience with diagnostic assessment, case notes and have excellent communication and time management skills. Students are expected to see up to 15-20+ clients a week and must have clinical counseling experience prior to our training program. Since our training experience is 100% virtual due to Covid-19, students must supply their own working computer.

We are currently accepting applications for Fall 2022 internship year for Clinical Mental Health Counseling Students and Social Work internship students only. Applications will be reviewed Summer 2022. Students invited for interview will take place shortly thereafter. Due to the number of applications we receive, we cannot respond to each application. If you are in consideration for the internship training fellowship, you will hear from us by Summer 2022.

To apply, please send an e-mail with your letter of interest and resume to David Young Oh at dave[at]radicalhealing.us
. In your letter of interest, please include your learning goals for your training year and why you would be a good mutual fit for our program.  Incomplete applications will not be considered.
