Parker T. Hurley, Ph.D., LCSWA
I am a licensed clinical social worker (LCSWA) and birth support doula who uses mindfulness, compassion, warmth and the healing power of nature in my work. As a queer, black, non-binary trans man, I understand how challenging it can be to receive care that is truly affirming, and that also recognizes the unique challenges faced by and resiliency found within queer and trans individuals and our communities. My therapeutic style is informed by an intersectional, holistic, social justice lens as I work with adults in individual, couples and group counseling formats. My work is trauma-informed, person-centered and ever-evolving as I train to expand my techniques and skills in the tradition of Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Horticultural Therapy and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and soon Somatic Healing.
Additionally, I provide professional development training in the areas of sexuality, trauma, and wellness to mental health and medical professionals, organizations and community groups.
I collaborate/share space with an herbalist, an art-therapist in training, who also work in healing energies. It is my hope to make appropriate referrals when necessary.
