She received her master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from NC State University and her PhD in Counseling and Counselor Education from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. Zobaida has experience working with clients in a wide range of settings including hospice and palliative care, university counseling centers, counseling clinics, and nonprofit organizations. She is passionate about working with clients on issues including, but not limited to:

  • Grief and loss
  • Spirituality, faith, and existential concerns
  • Depression, anxiety, and stress management
  • Cultural identity, social injustice, and racial trauma
  • Adjustment and life transitions
  • Academic and career challenges
  • Compassion fatigue and caregiver support
  • Chronic illness (self or loved ones)

Zobaida’s approach to counseling is holistic, integrative, and person centered, considering the unique identities, experiences, and worldviews of each client. She provides a compassionate, empowering, and affirming therapeutic space for clients to work towards mental, emotional, spiritual, and relational healing. Zobaida deeply values the relationships she builds with clients, encouraging them to bring their authentic and vulnerable selves into counseling, and meeting them with unconditional acceptance, connection, and recognition of their worthy presence. Each individual’s counseling process is different. Zobaida’s goal is to guide clients to (re)discover connection, resilience, and healing at their own gentle pace in order to live authentic, meaningful lives.
