MADISON HURLEY

My name is Madison Hurley, my pronouns are she/they, and I am a white cisgender queer woman. I am passionate about human rights and take an active stance in social justice concerns as a clinician and an advocate. I utilize feminist and multicultural counseling approaches to assist clients in dismantling internalized capitalism, misogyny, gender norms, racism, homophobia, fatphobia, and other systemic shame limiting mental well-being. I focus on creating a liberating space where clients feel seen and safe enough to engage with vulnerability; I present as my authentic self as a clinician to dispel potential power differentials and facilitate the most therapeutically beneficial relationship possible.

I have experience guiding children, adolescents, and adults through collaborative treatment addressing a multitude of presentations including but not limited to general anxiety, social anxiety, OCD, depression, personality disorders, neurodivergence, behavioral concerns, and trauma. My clinical interests include addressing shame, body images concerns, identity exploration, assertiveness training, interpersonal relationships, and inner child work through dialectical behavior and schema therapy. I recognize the importance of preventative work in addition to the beforementioned healing work and engage in positive reinforcement parent training and behavioral management work with children struggling with dysregulation. No matter the age or concerns, I am constantly honored and humbled when clients trust me with their emotions, identities, and life
experiences. At the end of the day, my priority as a clinician is to meet clients where they are at and make them feel seen, supported, and empowered.

To truly prioritize mental well-being and community strength, we must maintain moments of joy and rest. I believe in the power of play and mindfulness as healing components no matter our age and incorporate creative interventions within therapy to engage with child-like wonder and reprieve. This includes guided imagery, body work, art activities, narrative techniques, and games. Which happen to include a lot of my own interests outside of the counseling space! I love all things creative, like ceramics, painting, woodworking; in addition to this, I love spending time with my loved ones, getting outside with my dog, and anything that has to do with dinosaurs.
