Ava is currently in network with Aetna, United, BCBS (all plans except Blue Value, Blue Local and Blue Home) and Cigna Welcome! It is good to see you here. I am a licensed clinical mental health counselor, visual artist and photographer who uses warmth, affirmation, and humor in my work with clients. It is an honor to hold clients’ stories and experiences. I am a former drag performer, new-ish parent, super fat, nonbinary queer who is here for this work. I have a passion for collaborating with others in all things LIBERATION! I provide therapeutic collaboration through a social justice lens and work with adults in individual and group counseling formats. I am dedicated to community engagement and social justice because we do not exist in a vacuum. I am aware that my clients’ lives are affected by not only their identities and beliefs, but also how they move through and are seen in the world. With that understanding, I use person-centered, DBT, Mindfulness, and multi-cultural theories and interventions as methods for holistic healing. Professional areas of interest include LGBTQ+, BIPOC, somatic healing, grief, depression, race-based trauma, and anxiety. I currently conduct individual and group therapy sessions for adults over 18. Previous Group Work: DBT skills group for Queer and Trans folx BIPOC Mediation Circle Counseling Group for Partners of Emerging Trans/GNC/Nonbinary folx Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with my partner and our three-year-old who teaches me about being fearless and brave every day. I love plants, cooking, watching movies, astrology, reading and dabbling with interior design. I am very fond of dismantling the patriarchy a little bit each day and challenging heteronormative agendas and leanings. Being in water, looking at beautiful things, connecting with my beloved chosen family, laughter and being loved on rejuvenates my spirit. |
